After having a deal to be acquired collapsed in March, application modernization software firm NetManage Inc. on Thursday agreed to be purchased by U.K.-based Micro Focus International plc for $7.20 a share, or $73.3 million. That's the same price Rocket Software Inc. agreed to pay for NetManage last December, though that deal fell apart after Rocket failed to secure the financing necessary to complete the acquisition.

The offer price represents a 73% premium to NetManage's closing stock price of $4.15 on Wednesday, less than the 95% premium Rocket Software agreed to pay before that deal collapsed. NetManage shares are lightly traded, and it's worth noting that trading volume spiked on Wednesday, just before the offer was announced. -- David Shabelman
