A deal on the scale of Hewlett-Packard Co.'s $13.9 billion buy of Electronic Data Systems Corp. obviously gets done on the CEO and boardroom level. But when it comes to preparation and follow-through, a huge amount depends on the in-house strategy and deal teams at these two companies, both of them experienced acquirers. The top executives filling those roles on each side are well known within their industry -- and given their roles at this pivotal moment for their companies, worth spotlighting for the broader deal community today.
On the HP side is Shane Robison, responsible for shaping HP's overall corporate strategy and technology agenda. He also oversees the marketing function. Robison joined in HP's last big deal, having formerly been SVP and CTO of strategy and technology at Compaq. On the EDS side is Joe Eazor, EVP of corporate strategy and business development (pictured right of Robison). He reports to EDS CEO Ron Rittenmeyer. Eazor previously ran the company's Asia-Pacific business, sure to be an important region for the the combined companies. - Baz Hiralal
