Does Charlie Ergen have a grand plan?

Published May 16, 2011 at 1:56 PM

"Charlie Ergen has been very active in bankruptcy court and outside bankruptcy court," says The Deal senior writer Chris Nolter in this video interview. "Blockbuster, an auction in which he prevailed over Carl Icahn, is just one example in bankruptcy. EchoStar is buying Hughes Communications, a satellite company that is not bankrupt. But it's not clear if he has a grand plan." For more of Nolter's analysis of Charlie Ergen's recent burst of dealmaking, see "Ergenomics" in The Deal magazine. - Chris Nolter
