Politics, regulation crucial in cross-border M&A

Published April 26, 2011 at 5:00 AM

"I think the days of thinking purely about the corporate aspects of a cross-border M&A deal are over," says Mario Mancuso, a partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP. "Investment professionals have to think about politics and regulatory factors, and you have to bring them together early," he says. He speaks from experience, having served previously on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, or CFIUS, as a senior decision maker. The Deal magazine spoke with Mancuso as part of our Emerging Markets Outlook video series, sponsored by Merrill DataSite. - Mary Kathleen Flynn
