Bankruptcy in the middle market

When it comes to bankruptcy this year, "more middle-market companies are filing than nonmiddle-market companies," says Dan McElhinney, managing director of corporate restructuring for Epiq Systems Inc. "The reality is that middle-market companies are having a lot of problems, especially in areas that rely on consumer spending," says McElhinney. "Those companies don't have access to capital markets in the same way larger companies do."
