Behind The Money, Episode 38: Kevin Pomplun of SkyGrid

While raising SkyGrid Inc.'s $11 million Series B, which is being announced Wednesday, CEO Kevin Pomplun spoke with Behind the Money about his vision of the online news service for investors he founded right out of college in 2005.

"There is more information than ever before that will affect a stock's price," says Pomplun, 26. SkyGrid gathers information from more than 10 million sources, including blogs and more traditional news services. The company's strategy for helping traders cope with the "information overload," which includes displaying information on a desktop widget tailor-made for traders, is what attracted investors, including initially Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Esther Dyson and now adding RRE Ventures and the firm's general partner James Robinson (the former American Express Co. CEO) and BlackRock Inc.-- Mary Kathleen Flynn
