Ben Lerer talks Lerer Ventures' investment strategy

Published February 9, 2012 at 11:58 AM

"We're looking for people who we really believe in," says Ben Lerer, about the investment strategy at Lerer Ventures, emphasizing the importance of having the right business partners. Lerer also talks about how Skype Technology SA's $85 million purchase of GroupMe Inc. came about in 2011. Lerer, whose company had invested in GroupMe, says that Skype wanted "to get in bed with a group of really smart technologists," as the company aspires to "sit at the middle of digital communications." Other notable Lerer investments include eyewear website Warby Parker and beauty delivery service Birchbox. . For more from Ben Lerer, watch "'Quite large' opportunity for Thrillist IPO."- Katie Roof
