On the latest Activist Investing Today, Aneliya Crawford and Bill Dooley of Sodali & Co. discussed the firm’s “Sodali 40” analysis and broader activism trends. They outlined how global advisory capabilities support activism defense and M&A strategy.
Dooley highlighted increased activism in banking, driven partly by the data-intensive campaigns of HoldCo Asset Management LP targeting regional lenders. He said the activist firm’s detailed valuation work and disclosure-focused strategies have influenced investor scrutiny of deal processes.
The “Sodali 40” report, the duo explained, tracks top activists by activity, board seats won and sector focus, helping companies identify vulnerabilities and “wolfpack” dynamics across industries.
Crawford said regulatory changes, artificial intelligence adoption and evolving stewardship structures are complicating investor engagement, increasing reliance on intermediaries to interpret voting behavior and sentiment.
