Drinks With The Deal: Proskauer's Herrmann on Practice Building, Career Transitions

|
Published: October 2nd, 2026
Proskauer M&A and PE partner Kris Herrmann discusses his career transitions and approach to building a practice.

As a paralegal just out of college, Kris Herrmann said on this week’s Drinks With The Deal podcast, he learned that “If you love what you do, but you hate who you do it with, you’re going have a terrible time. If you love who you work with but you hate what you do, you’ll still be OK. So try to find the people you love and try not to hate the job that you do, and you will have a life on a sliding scale of good to great.”

Herrmann took that approach in 2020 when he moved to Proskauer Rose LLP in Los Angeles from Latham & Watkins LLP. Now an M&A and private equity partner at Proskauer and a member of the law firm’s sports group, he was looking for a place where he could play a key role in building a practice.

The next year, he helped advise Stamps.com Inc. on its $6.6 billion sale to Thoma Bravo LP, a key milestone for Proskauer’s Los Angeles practice. After the wildfires in the city in the winter of 2025, Herrmann and his family relocated to New York, where he’s continued to build his practice, advising the National Football League on the sale of NFL Network and other media assets including the NFL’s linear RedZone Channel and NFL Fantasy to ESPN in exchange for a 10% stake in the network, a subsidiary of Walt Disney Co. (DIS), a deal announced in August 2025 and closed in January.
