As a young investment banker at Centerview Partners LLC in New York, Madeline Lissner often walked across 53rd Street to exhibitions and lectures at the Museum of Modern Art. But, she said on this week’s Drinks With The Deal podcast, she didn’t think seriously about combining her deep love of art with her interest in finance until one of the partners at Centerview told her that Adam Chinn, a co-founder of the bank, was helping to launch Art Agency Partners, a boutique art advisory firm.
Lissner joined AAP out of business school in 2014 to help run its art fund, and a little over a year later the firm was sold to Sotheby’s. She’s gone on to build a career at the New York-based broker of art, luxury items and collectibles, where she’s now the executive vice president for the global fine art division.
“It would have been my dream, when I was 18 years old and trying to think about how to bring art and business together,” she said of her current job.
Lissner also discussed the current state of the art market and how young professionals should build collections of their own on the podcast.
